AUG.6,2016(Chewing Gum and Chocolate)

2016.8.6 / Gallery Node / Hiroshima City

A single-day exhibition, held in Hiroshima city on 6 August 2016.
This installation is a reconstructed studio of On Kawahara based on the artist's photographs and my interpretation. The text of Shomei Tomatsu and the sweets were placed on the desk; specifically, the latter was a symbol of the American occupation. This installation aimed to create in visitors an inseparable link between the occupation and the date of the atomic bombing. Visitors could take those sweets for free. By doing so, they could experience the occupation on their noses and tongues and imagine the date on the unfinished canvas.
